  • Hi everyone.

I'm playing Fernbus for a couple of hours now, and I think I got my opinion on the game so far.
I could write about it in Steam Review page, but I felt like posting it here, since the Fernbus comunity is always here, and the Devs could see this more easily.

So, I must admit I had good feelings about the game, since it is a bus simulator who let you travel between the states of Germany in a very nice scale, that make you travel very far and take some hours from you, depending on how your set up your lines. This may be good, but not all that good.

I had played lots of bus simulation games (and there is some of them that are not great), with OMSI getting the top spot of the functional ones. The game may not look very good, because the details are on the buses, but the game can run nice in some rigs. Fernbus does not.
I understand that Fernbus is still a alpha game, and there is a LOT of improvement comming, but I am not convinced that the game will improve more than this. The use of the Unreal Engine is a nice choice, since some developers prefer another engines for simulators, but yeah, Fernbus uses it and try to be a nice game, but sadly it is not. The buses have great detail, the roads, wheater (not the raining, sadly), and some other details. The game may look nice but performance wise, it does not look nice. Some players may play this game with good frames, with no lags nor stutters at all, but another people may play with all these i mentioned (me for instance, and i have a decent rig). Already got support, talked some with Timo, but I simply can't play it in its current state. To make it a bit worse, TML is planning to sell us a new bus, a DLC bus, for this "not optimized" game. We bought this alpha game by a high price, and they plan to sell us another bus, when they should have working and releasing at least a update that improve the performance. The IA may be bad, some mechanics too, but at least try to make the game run better. This will help take out a very bad hitch. The game in it's current state, is a game for people with nerves of steel.

And tell you what? TML is planning on releasing a new bus game. I watched the dev diary (thank god it is in english now) and the features of the new game looks promising, but with that said, I started to think: why they want to create and release a new bus game, if they are still learning to keep Fernbus pieced togheter? I will not buy another bus game with the same problems as Fernbus. I think instead of releasing a new game, they should learn how to improve Fernbus.

Gameplay features are not too important for now (i know they are, but they have more demanding problems to deal with), but making the game run better, will keep your fan comunity in touch. They will play, will enjoy, and will give feedback, more than the usual. I lost count on how much broken simulation games i have played, but i played anyway since they was fun, and had a decent performance.

Sorry if i have not make myself clear in some of this big text, but, for now, that is what i feel right now.

    Hi @Gennesys X,

big thanks for your honest and detailed feedback. (thanks to all others until now again as well!). I have moved your post into the existing feedback thread.

Now I do understand your points, and we are very aware that it is not easy to try to convince others that we are continuously working on improving this game. This project has a size we have never had before, it has been released too early (publisher and economic reasons), and now we're here, releasing updates almost every week.

As I've mentioned in the DevDiary, Fernbus will also profit quite a lot from the new game that is in parallel development now. Including to that, there's also a slightly psychological aspect to consider: The core developers haven't seen anything else than Fernbus all day long, and there comes a point where you could feel sick of it. Starting a new game gives a new set of motivation and energy to create something great, using the experience from Fernbus that suddenly makes developing much easier, as we're used to Unreal now. This motivation will also flow into Fernbus, and will keep us working on it for a long term. We have a big goal for this game, and we're not even close to it yet. There will be much more to come, but until then, we need a bit of time, as well as patience and support from the community. Including to that, we do have a plan for the new game to make sure it doesn't get released as buggy, as Fernbus has.

I hope my points make sense in a way.

    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Thank you for your answer, Chris.

I had an explosion, and I apologize if I made myself too angry in this feedback.
I do understand that you guys are working on it day and night. I will give it time, as I do for the games I believe in. If I made myself angry at something, it is because I still believe in it.

Work hard, and you will get a bigger fan, for both games (and I am pretty excited for the next one, based on features mentioned. Hope to see gameplay soon).

    Thanks.

  • Hi, Im a new user and played around 6 hrs with fernbus, my GPU is a GEFORCE GT640 this are some issues i have:

When I take the exits the FPS drops from 19 to 8.
Fatal Error when I try to continue a route after finishing another.
AI vehicules disappearing time to time.

I notice when the FPS drops is when the foliage or trees are near to the bus, this is very common when i take an exit.
When I approaching to the one city the FPS doesn't drop the game is playable.

NOTE: The configuration for the game is Medium in the majority of the settings, the rest is low. I attach the log when the game crashes.

  • Hi,

the optimisation of the game will be improved in the upcoming update however, your graphics card doesn't meet the minimum requirements of the game.
A GT 640 is much slower than a recommended GTX 560.

Well I hope better performance with the upcoming update, with ETS2 I no have problem the settings are High in that game. Thank you for your answer.

  • It is a very cool game @Jon D. H., the varied patches are quite important, and the performance is fundamental. I think that each one of us will be pleased including the creators, and gamers. TML is doing a great job at polishing the game, while listening to its people.

@Marcin26677 I hope so and is great the TML team is working along with the community that demonstrate the interest in their product and the gamers.   :fernbus:

@UndergroundBerlin That's a great news! I'm already very excited with Fernbus Simulator no mather the bad reviews the game is really nice and I see a lot of potential in this simulator.

  • Updating new 1.6 Fernbus is good, I have just two comments to improve the game . Force feedback, practically does not work with the G29 wheel, driving no reaction, lack of regulation forces .Game performance has improved, but what you can update next patch Fernbus . These two things which I say thank you for the work on the game TML STUDIO because it goes in the right direction. :)

  • Update 1.6

Hi Guys!!, Performance feedback: Almost there, for me the post-processing graphics need more improvement.

I just update to the the patch 1.6.1.10369 and the performance for me is better after I can't drive at night, now I can yeah!!! the performance is now in 17 to 31 FPS and for me is a huge improve because is more driveable and we have lest lags.

The lighting is beautiful and with this update more enjoyable specially at night, so TML thank you for your hard work, I hope you keep improving the game and the performance, for me it's almost there! (in performance) Keep working !!!

PS.: Because my graphic card is not so powerful if you guys need anything just say it and I will be happy to help.

  • Please improve the force feedback because it basically doesn't work , add LEDs to the steering wheel Logitech G29 when you drive so that they'll light up . Improve the optimisation in the next update , add driving busses in AI and add them to every bus stop. Also make the passengers enter and leave the bus with fluent animations . Thank you

  • Hi,

Bought the game few days ago and really enjoying it. I understand it's still under development so containing some bugs here and there but I am sure TML is working on it.
For me one of the aspect you guys should work to improve asap would be the AI, because seriously...changing lane on the Highway is more risky than playing Russian Roulette. Even with turn indicator on, AI cars keep coming at max speed even if you're halfway in the new lane, resulting of course either in "Light Accident" or "Steering Misbehaviour", trying to avoid the accident!.
Another thing directly connected to this issue is the Mirrors reflections details, especially during night hours.

For the rest, nothing to say...excellent job and keep pouring in new features and fixes!

Just editing a bit the post because I saw many people complain about the Force Feedback. Personally, until we have an improvement from TML, for Logitech Wheels I suggest to deselect the option "Allow the game to adjust setting"...this will make the wheel "heavier" and still keeping the small effects when having collision and so on.

    Thanks

  • Hi

I noticed that you need to take a break before the time has passed that is stated on the phone. I would like to have this changed that you get an option to take a break whenever you want, as it is annoying if you mis it you will get spammed with notifications that you need to take a break.

Also, I noticed that the speeds are not correct in certain places, I will still get flashed for speeding..

The IA also takes a Longgggggggg time to take off when a stoplight turns green.

    Further, great work!

  • Very good Update 1.8 when it comes to driving at night flicker longer flash, is just another small mistake at night you can see a little light in the cockpit and out of the picture is too dark before the update was clearly easier to see if you can mates to lighten it please. And lighten mirrors are also too dark, barely visible at night, plus the camera is a big mistake return to the pre-renovation because 90 set is too close to the glass should be much further. Congratulations visible for the driver to move. Update I liked because disappeared flickering flash but do have to correct what I am saying, and it will be the perfect game thank you greetings.Going to rear bus camera on the bus does not work in reverse is also to improve need to be .Thanks

  • In my opinion the high beam are set improperly. Look at the screenshots below. High beam are lighten the sides of the road but the road is still dark. When I'm going down from the hill the high beam are working fine. Also the calender is from 2016, today is 14 Saturday, and according to the calender in the game it's Thursday. Could you fix this please?
